Research shows that many bi+ people of color (POC) often feel more comfortable in general LGBTQ+ POC spaces than in bi+ groups. This interactive session will invite participants to reflect on why this happens and explore ways to bring about change. Together, we will examine how various barriers, including language, location, limited budgets, group structures, and the attitudes of organizers and attendees, impact participation. We will also discuss the ways bi+ groups present and advertise themselves, as well as how collaboration with POC and immigrant organizations can create stronger, more inclusive communities. Participants are encouraged to share both positive and challenging experiences of racial inclusivity in bi+ spaces and to co-develop practical strategies for making bi+ groups more racially aware, welcoming, and sustainable.
